Why DO we use local, raw honey?

We love local, raw honey!
First, we are supporting local businesses. Second, some research has shown that by consuming a teaspoon of honey from an apiary within 50 miles of your home can help reduce season allergies. Third, raw honey is packed with healthy, beneficial enzymes. Raw honey has not been pasteurized which means that heat has not been applied to the honey, leading to a degradation in the health beneficial enzymes. Raw honey is high in antioxidants and has antibacterial properties. The darker the honey, the more antioxidants it will have.

Check with your favorite apiary to see if they have seasonal honey blends!

How does Elderberry work to reduce duration and severity of the flu?

Elderberry is considered an anti-viral which means that it protects your cells from a virus invader. Elderberry properties bind itself around a virus and prevents the virus from penetrating healthy cells. The sooner you take elderberry syrup when signs of sickness begin, the sooner you can "protect your cells" from being invaded by the virus, thus leading to a less severe flu virus.
